About Andrea Melendez:

Andrea Melendez, M.A., LPC.:
is licensed by the state of New Jersey as professional counselor (LPC). She earned her Bachelor degree at Rutgers University in Psychology with a minor in criminal justice. She obtained her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Felician University in 2015. Ms. Melendez is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Felician University.

Ms. Melendez has trained at a variety of mental health settings including hospital, community, and private-based clinical settings treating both individuals and couples. Her specialty training includes working with athletes, and helping them understand the mind body connection. She is committed to evidence-based practice and has been trained in cognitive behavioral therapy. She also offers an integrated approach by including interventions such as motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and other techniques that incorporate an individual’s strengths in treatment. She assists individuals by helping them to move forward and by providing a safe environment to voice emotions, increase awareness and work through problematic thoughts and/or behaviors. Ms. Melendez will work with clients to help them develop positive, more adaptive thoughts and behaviors for the future. Areas of specialty include stress management, anxiety, depression, assertiveness and empowerment, and other behavioral concerns.
